Anna Cromwell, newly appointed concertmaster at the Central Wisconsin Symphony Orchestra.

The Central Wisconsin Symphony Orchestra has appointed Anna Cromwell as concertmaster. She succeeds Steve Bjella, the orchestra’s longtime concertmaster, and Graham Emberton, who served as interim concertmaster and concertmaster for the last two seasons. Andres Moran is the orchestra’s music director. Cromwell is currently associate professor of violin and viola at the University of Wisconsin at Stevens Point and is active as a performer, teacher, and lecturer. She has been on faculty at Eastern Illinois University, Western Kentucky University, Minnesota State University, Bravo! Summer String and Keyboard Institute, and the Tennessee Valley Music Festival. She can be heard performing on the Albany Records label in three CDs featuring string chamber works by living composers. A teacher and lecturer, Cromwell has given presentations at the Music Teachers National Association Conference, the American String Teachers Association National Conference, and the Wisconsin, Illinois, Kentucky, and Indiana Music Educators State Conferences. Cromwell earned her M.M. and D.M.A. at the University of Minnesota. She studied at Rice University and graduated from Vanderbilt University. She attended high school at the North Carolina School of the Arts.
